VINNIE & THE STARS

FUNDRAISING FOR THEIR NEW ALBUM

Check out this recent post from the Vinnie & The Stars facebook page;

'We need to raise funds to record our next album, our plan is to work with multi award winning producer Paul Milner on the vocals, production and mix of the album. We have 8 signed harmonicas left!!! 1 signed kick drum skin that got busted at our gig when we supported Goldie Lookin Chain, and there's also my first ukulele available that was used during the writing and recording of Vinnie & The Stars debut album swings & roundabouts. As well as getting you hands on some of this limited edition stuff, you'll also receive the finished album via download link before it's released... And in the mean time we'll also send you the home studio demos we've been working on for the past year. Previous artists that Paul Milner has worked for have gone on to sell gold and platinum sales certifications, won multiple awards for song writing and album production. We aim to work with Paul once the album is finished to further the progress of the band and get our music in the right hands of the right people. Please check out the indiegogo page we have created there's 40 days left to contribute to our campaign. We need you support to help us make this happen!!! As we endeavour to silver the greatest album we've ever written!

You can contribute and get your hands on this stuff via PayPal or credit/debit card. It's really easy to do. And I'll be hand posting them out myself so drop me a message if you want anything personalised. I won't sign the ukulele until I know it's going to a good home, and may deliver by hand if it's a Yorkshire purchaser.

Please share this information. Cheers!!!'

THE FA CUP FINAL 2014

SATURDAY 17 MAY 2014

HULL CITY AFC v ARSENAL

We'll pull the plug from Hornsea Mere
When the Tigers win the Cup
We'll fill St Andrew's Dock with beer
When the Tigers win the Cup
We will booze all through the night
We will paint the Guildhall white
And find a little man to fight
When the Tigers win the Cup

We'll sink pints until we're dropping
When the Tigers win the Cup
And we're going to marry Mary Poppins
When the Tigers win the Cup
Lots of dirty songs we'll sing
Listen to the church bells ring
And Waggy will be crowned the King
When the Tigers win the Cup

We'll get paralytic drunk
When the Tigers win the Cup
And from our street we'll do a bunk
When the Tigers win the Cup
There before us, shining, stand
Angel Choir and Silver Band
Play us to our Happy Land
When the Tigers win the Cup

There is a Happy Land
Far far away...
Far far away...
Far far away...

THE FA CUP FINAL - AN ARSENAL VIEWPOINT

We spoke to Abhinav from Arsenal fansite www.thebottomcorner.com and asked him to give us his thoughts ahead of the FA Cup Final. Here is what he had to say;

What is your assessment of Arsenal's season to date?

It's been a productive season. We played some great football and were top for over 120 days but the injuries to Aaron Ramsey and Theo Walcott crushed us. It's not like we crumbled without them - we were managing even if we were barely doing it but the crucial Feb-March period saw the end of our title challenge. It's another case of what-if had Ramsey or/and Walcott been fit or if we had another striker to take the pressure off Giroud. It's been a pleasure watching Ozil though and the prospect of ending the season with an FA Cup and pushing on next season is nice.

Does Arsene Wenger still have the backing of the majority of Arsenal fans?

I'd still stay so. He's made mistakes this season but he's still a legend and the greatest ever Arsenal manager. I think many people were surprised with his capture of Ozil and if he continues to strengthen, especially in the striking department now that we have the money, we could see the glory days coming back and Wenger leaving on a high.

Finishing fourth and qualifying for the Champions League would be a fantastic season for most clubs (particularly if they ended up winning the FA Cup as well), but would this be considered a successful season by Arsenal fans? Do you think you have underachieved in recent years?

This would be a successful season in my opinion because if we win the FA Cup, it'd be a better season than any other which we've had since 2005. However, regrets will always come in the way, given how we led the table for so long. Given our expenditure and wage bill over the years, we've actually overachieved but as Jonathan Wilson wrote in an article, we make so many mistakes that it's hard to not believe that we should be doing much better. The 2007/2008 season will always be a painful memory and we should have won trophies that year.

Where do you think Arsenal need to strengthen if they are to mount a serious challenge to win the Premier League or Champions League?

I think we need a commanding midfielder as I feel Arteta's way past it, Diaby's too injury prone and Flamini is only good enough as backup. Someone like Sami Khedira would be nice. A striker is required as well but the class of strikers we want (Costa, Cavani, Benzema) don't look too likely to be signed or be available.

Who has been Arsenal's most influential player this season?

Without doubt, Aaron Ramsey. If we remember the 2011/2012 season where he was inconsistent and deemed not good enough, I must admit, I didn't have faith in him then. But his transformation this season has simply been remarkable - he makes us so much better and he's added goalscoring to his game now as well. One can't help but feel he would have won at least one PFA trophy had he been fit for the whole season.

What do you think of the job Steve Bruce has done at Hull City this season?

I think he's done a great job from getting Hull promoted, keeping them in the Premier League and guiding them to their first ever FA Cup final. He's made some good signings and got the team playing some decent football and no matter what the result will be on May 17th, Hull will be in Europe next season.

As Arsenal have a lot of experience of European away days, are there any destinations and stadiums to look out for on the European football circuit?

White Hart Lane is definitely one ;)

What is your FA Cup Final score prediction?

Sorry to say but I'm hoping for a convincing 3-0 win, given our recent win over Hull a few weeks ago, but then again, this is a final and anything can happen. An entertaining match is all we could hope for.
